Look What Our Congregations Have Planned For This Year
As a partner in the Interfaith Mission Service, our congregation is involved in many
exciting events for the coming year. All are designed to provide for the needs of the community and to
enlighten individuals to the diversity of faiths in our area.
Since 1969, the Interfaith Mission Service partners have helped promote religious and cultural harmony
through interfaith workshops and forums. With an Executive Board, staff and advisors providing
administrative duties, Interfaith Mission Service has helped member congregations and individuals share
information, talent and experience to bring positive change to our society.
Interfaith Mission Service is a diversity of religions crossing boundaries of beliefs and coming together
in harmony. We like to call them: |

| Provides an on-going program that furthers interfaith understanding
among the faith traditions in the community. The series has gone “on the road” and been held at nine
various congregations with great success. |

| Congregations experience worship services from the community’s faith tradition |
 |
| With the emerging network of people from diverse faiths, races and cultures.
we find the need to explore the importance of Shared Human Values. This Summit will address these
misunderstandings and biases with dialogue and cutting edge research in the practice of human values.
It will be an integral part of building the beloved and inclusive community. |

| First Stop is a daytime program that provides a basic set of services to
homeless people in our community.

| Congregation members become informed of the needs for public reform,
how they relate to faith teachings, and steps to becoming advocates for change. |

| This event is for people of all ages and abilities who want to make a difference
by sharing a hammer, mop, brush or shovel to demonstrate the possibilities when we all share our Human
Values. Families, youth groups, men’s and women’s groups, civic organizations or individuals are
invited to spend the morning making a difference. |

| Provides information concerning our racial profile for creating cross racial
experiences |

| Each year, this event brings the partner congregations and general public together
as a celebration of the year’s accomplishments. Special recognition is given to those who’s efforts best
reflected the IMS goals. |

One Huntsville provides an opportunity to meet, share a meal and ideas across religious, racial and cultural
segments, We meet the third Tuesday of each month at Ryan’s Restaurant 808 University Drive (just east of Parkway) |

| Congregations provide their buses and vans to transport the homeless to and from medical clinics.
This service ensures they have access to medical attention and the prescribed medicine they need. |
 |
| The Pantry provides emergency food to families in need. The food is donated by congregations
through the Foodline clearinghouse and pantries. Approximately 11000 (annually) adults and children are provided
with groceries from the food pantries administered by IMS. |
