OUR PROGRAM:
“CITIZEN DIPLOMACY: ANOTHER IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME … AND KEEPS COMING!”
HOW YOU CAN SEIZE OPPORTUNITIES THAT STRETCH FROM YOUR OWN OWN BACK YARD TO PLACES ACROSS THE WORLD
The Huntsville-based International Services Council of Alabama, a highly respected non profit organization that promotes global peace and understanding through citizen diplomacy, is not only a best practice for the State. ISC has made impacts regionally, nationally, and internationally. And because both the organization’s recent growth and development AND the expansion of our community and region as a global partner are being taken seriously “far and wide”, the numerous opportunities we have to “think globally and act locally” abound. ISC brings the global community to our front door, making it possible for every citizen to be engaged in practicing citizen diplomacy – the right, indeed the responsibility, for each individual to help shapeU.S. foreign policy “one handshake at a time.”
Come and learn how, since 1965, ISC has established and nurtured international contacts with visitors and residents from around the world to enrichAlabama’s education, commerce, and global awareness through a variety of programs, events, and volunteer opportunities. Be present so you can visualize partnerships they hold with the U.S. Department of State, the Small Business Administration,MadisonCounty, the City ofHuntsville, the National Council for International Visitors and UAHuntsville. Take away knowledge about the Global Perspectives Institute, the Diplomatic Corp, and the myriad of initiatives leveraged with ISC as they work with ALL OF US who are building a more united community that is practiced at “thinking globally and acting locally!”
Our presenter will be Jacquelyn Gates Shipe, Executive Director of the International Services Council of Alabama and President and CEO of SOARing LLC, which delivers global leadership development consulting services specializing in ethics and compliance, diversity and organizational culture shaping.
